Review of recording session using Wunder Audio PEQ-1 modules

Groove Labs recently went into the studio to record a straight-ahead jazz record and we used 13 channels of Wunder Audio gear (PEQ1). The instrumentation for the project was upright bass, drums and vibraphone. We also used steel pan in lieu of vibes on some tracks. Initially the idea was to record to Digital and then fly the music into Pro Tools for mixing and mastering. After cutting two tracks we decided to also record directly out of the board to a stereo ready CD. Thankfully we made this decision to record to CD early in the session, because it turned out that when we were done, we had no need for Pro Tools. The Wunder Audio gear combined with a highly skilled engineer produced a recording that exceeded all of expectations in terms of quality, consistency and ease of use. Kudos should also be given to the musicians: Rich Stanmyre, Aaron Lack and Jeremy Brown for playing their Asses off on all of the takes. We were all blown away by the sounds created from Wunder Audio gear, and we had many options to choose from (Neve, Summit, etc). This gear delivered all across the sound spectrum making the bass sound huge and warm, taking the veil off the mids, and delivering crystallized clarity on the highs. I should also mention that we used incredible microphones including Neumann U-87's, AKG 414's, and a new Wunder Audio mic called a CM-7.

I've never experienced a recording session quite like this one and a lot, if not most, of the success came from the quality of the Wunder Audio gear.
